We all need a helping hand at some point, yet for various reasons
we fail to ask for help or accept help when it is offered.
You may fear the vulnerability of asking for help or not trust
that it will be there when you’re counting on it. If lacking trust is your issue, then you need
to start small. Ask for things you know
you can handle on your own but allow others to give you the gift of helping
you. You can slowly allow yourself to
let others become more important your life.
Be honest about what you see and trust the trustworthy. Be realistic about what you are asking of
someone else. Do not ask for things you
know they cannot help you with just to prove to yourself that no one is
trustworthy.
You may carry the belief that you are undeserving; that you’re meant
to do everything on your own. You may fear
judgment, to be viewed as weak. In
either case, your lack of self-worth needs to be addressed. There are many ways to do this, but this post would be too long for me to describe them. Two solutions would be either engaging in a SelfEmpowerment Course [like the one I will be hosting beginning on Dec 8, 2014] or seeking help from an individual like Syd Vitale [check out his info on this blog]
Or you may have a martyr complex; preying on others’ good natures
to get attention and singing ‘O woe is me’ regardless of the situation. If this is you, some thought needs to be given as to why you feel you need to be constantly the focus of attention.
Be honest with yourself to discern what the issue really is.
I am here to tell you that it takes far more courage to ask for
and accept the help of others than it does to try and do everything on your
own. There’s nothing to prove and no one
to prove it to, except your self.
When
we allow others into our lives and allow them to help us become more successful
we give them a gift as well as accepting gifts from them. It feels good to help others, do not deny
others that same feeling. As human beings we seek community. Be a part of that community and thrive.
Blessings!
